Floating Solar Panel: It is a new technology which is developed by the company Ocean Sun?

Floating Solar Panel

It is a new technology which is developed by the company Ocean Sun. They started a project to set panels over the water and grab the sunlight, this technology was first introduced by a Norwegian scientist with expertise from the solar energy maritime industry and with the support of innovation Norway and the research council of Norway.

Floating solar panels refer to the panels on floating water bodies like oceans, sea rivers, ponds, or in a hydropower reservoir. This technology was recently tested with the collaboration of stat-kraft, the technology will be tested on a Banja hydropower plant in Albania.

There are solar parks that have four powering units in which each has a power of 0.5 MW p and each plant has a total investment cost of approximately a 2.3millon. This is the first step for the ocean sun company to bring a rapid change in the economic growth of the company.

Floating Solar Panel

Most importantly companies don't have much competition in this field because this is a very new concept and most people are unaware of it.

This technology has several important benefits, the first and most important one is as we are very familiar that land is degrading day by day and the population is increasing so there major problem while we search field for solar plantation so scientist finds this replacement here

we are placing solar panels over the water, where they get the sunlight from water and don't require any extra space and get themselves, we can also use the production of electricity production on large scale for the power grid.

These types of solar panels are not perceived as visually obstructive. Panels are simply set over the water panel and get electricity from the sun and get cooled. If we talk about construction the floating solar panel consists of  70m covering a total of over 15000 square meters with solar panels. Each raft has a plastic ring and thin membrane, much like a giant inflatable children's pool.

It is the membrane and the large area that makes this concept unique.

By the end of 2017,,250mw floating solar panels will be installed in Asia, where most of the growth is expected to continue, especially in countries such as  India and South Korea. The construction of a floating ring by the plastic pipe having a diameter of 12 meters is welded together on site.

This time we sourced from china, but in the future, we bought locally.  The use of local labor is also an important factor in the profitability of this project.

In Hyderabad India's biggest solar plant is established which has a capacity of 100 megawatts and is expected to become operational soon in Telangana.

This project has been set by the conglomerate National thermal power corporation in the reservoir of its thermal power plant at Ramagundam, Peddapalli district. This project will work soonly but due to the pandemic, it got delayed.

NPTC officially explains the setting up of floating solar units on water bodies and huge reservoirs to help lower the costs.

Floating solar panels will be a more effective alternative to land-based solar arrays. On the installation of solar panels on the water bodies, they get more life by getting the direct cooling effect from the water body where it is installed, it might be a river, ocean, sea, pond, etc.

It also reduces the evaporation rate in the water and also reduces the growth of algal blooms and improves water quality. it also reduces grid connection costs.

Interestingly, the world's largest floating 600mw solar energy project is also coming up in India. The project is constructed on the Omkareshwar dam over the Narmada river in the  Khandwa district. Madhya Pradesh is being likely to bring power generation.
